Monday night we celebrated our outgoing seniors for North Putnam Swimming and Diving. Gabby Carney, Krissy Dill, Savannah Couch, and Abby Spencer were all escorted by their parents, as we recognized them for their participation and successes in the program. There is a bittersweet sentiment to senior night. It is a milestone that every athlete is ultimately working towards, and therefore a joyful time. However, it is mixed with a bit of sorrow since as coaches and parents, along with that excitement, we see our students/children one step closer to independence and having to say goodbye. Bittersweet indeed, but we did celebrate and had some special events to swim as well as a few season PRs.
Savannah Couch (SR) closed out her last meet at her home pool with a win on the diving board and a PR in the 50 Free. A great way to end a 4 year career in the pool.
Abby Spencer (SR) effortlessly won both the 200 and 500 Free events, with no other contender in site. She changed it up swimming backstroke in the 200 Medley Relay and helped out on the winning 400 Free Relay A team.
Krissy Dill (SR) has a special event, swimming a IM. She also swam on 3 relays including the winning 400 Free A team.
Gabby Carney (SR) has been unable to swim due to an arm injury. However, she has been invaluable as a team manager helping with split times, meal preparation, and meet set-ups.
Tori Louie (JR) swam in the 100 Fly for the first time, placing second. She also was part of the 200 Free Relay…that changed to swim a 200 Fly…and 400 Free Relay B team.
Gabby Louie (JR) finished 2nd in both the 200 Free and 100 Back, as well as participating on the 200 Fly Relay and 400 Free Relay B teams.
Maddie Trotter (SO) joined the 200 Medley Relay team for the first time putting in a solid swim in the Free leg. She also PR’d in the 100 Free and was on the winning 400 Free Relay A team.
Lauren Lotzow (FR) had a challenging not on the board but finished 5th in the 50 Free. She also helped out on the 200 Fly Relay and 400 Free Relay B team.
Grace Elmore (FR) dominated the 100 Free and placed second in the 100 Breast. Solid swims also helped the 200 Medley and 400 Free Relay A teams.
As we now get ready for WIC on January 20th and Sectionals in February we can anticipate tough workouts in the pool and on land. We hope to see 100% effort from all our swimmers, and with that have high expectations for our championship meets. Go Cougars!
