Although lack of numbers keep our team score from reflecting it, the Lady Cougars swam solid races last night against the North Montgomery Chargers.
After switching it up Tuesday night in Crawfordsville, Abby Spencer (SR) was back to the distance races. The 200 Freestyle was a dual in the pool between Spencer and Charger Brynn Anderson, but Spencer’s strong push at the end gave her the win. Unchallenged in the 500, Spencer easily won in a time of 6:10.40. Abby also swam on the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay A teams, which both finished 2nd.
Krissy Dill (SR) swam the 100 Butterfly and 200 IM, scoring points for second place in both events. Krissy also swam on the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay A teams, which both finished 2nd.
Savannah Couch (SR) had a good night racing and on the diving board. She PR’d in the 50 Free with a time of 34.20 and had a season high on the board with a score of 142. Savannah also swam legs on the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay B team.
Tori Louie (JR) finished 4th in the 200 Free and 3rd in the 500 Free. Tori also swam legs on the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay B team.
Gabby Louie (JR) finished 4th in both the 200 IM and 100 Fly. She also swam legs on the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay B team.
Maddie Trotter (SO) swam some distance for the first time. She established times in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle races. She also helped out on the 200 Free Relay and, for the first time, the 400 Free Relay A team. With her solid performance it will be a battle between the Louie sisters and Trotter for the 4th position on the school record holding 400 Free Relay team. Bring it, ladies!
Lauren Lotzow (FR) PR’d in the 50 Free and won the diving competition. She also helped out with solid swims on the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay B team.
Grace Elmore (FR) was the lone wolf in the 100 Free race, easily beating the second place Charger by over 5 seconds. A solid performance in the 100 Breast put her second, being out touched at the wall by .59 seconds. Grace also swam on the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay A teams, which both finished 2nd.
Coach Tidd said, “Very pleased to see some really good swims last night. As we get closer to sectionals I’m getting a better idea on how to approach our championship meet. Still have a lot of work to do, but I’m confident that we will experience a lot of success at Plainfield in February.”
Come support the Cougars Monday night for their last home meet of the season and senior night!
